The history of the Gazing Globe has its roots in the 13th century when it was first made in Venice, Italy. It was hand blown then just as the ones at RICHSTINES are today. Antonio Nier, a priest, named it a "spere of light", and as time passed the globes became poplular with the wealthy landowvers who could afford them for their European gardens. King Ludwig II, King of Bavaria during the 1800's adorned his palace, a replica of Versailles, with hundreds of the globes. WITCHES fear the gazing globe. Some say the globe should placed near the entrance to the home in the event that a witch would visit. Withces will not pass beyond a gazing globe.
